2018 BEST OF BUSINESS What's the best thing to happen to your company since last year? For starters, we're honored to be among the other Best of the Business winners this year. In addition, we've been on the "Inc. 5000" list (fastest growing private companies in the U.S.) multiple years in a row. We've worked hard to always do what's right and honest to ensure we have happy and satisfied customers. Please give us a sneak peek into a new product or service you're releasing in 2019. We're working on some super top secrets! One big sneak peek, however, is we're expanding to the Charlotte, N.C., market with a larger office and warehouse to help support sales and customer service locally as well as along the entire East Coast. Tell us a company secret. In our warehouse, we have multiple arcade games and pinball machines, and a pool table in the middle of our office. We work hard all day, every day, but keeping some helpful stress-relievers in the office helps with keeping a smile on our faces, which, in turn, helps us pass on that cheerfulness to our valued clientele. If your company had a mascot, what would it be and why? We've joked about having an office dog named Lumen. There's something that resonates with the staff about having a loyal companion with you for the ups and downs, who's always willing to help and stand with you no matter what. But, for an actual mascot, we'd pick a light bulb with a mustache and a bowler hat. If President Trump were to write a Tweet about your business, what would it say? This is not fake news folks, Priority Lighting is going to help expand the economy. We have begun doing truly great things for other American businesses… HUGE things which will help each of these businesses to increase sales and services. Why do you love the self-storage industry? This industry is unique, simple and, yet, complex. Each building has challenges, many of which are lighting-related. We love being a part of helping a facility run efficiently, look vibrant, be secure and, more important, ensure each tenant is happy with the overall feel of a property. Our chief administrative officer's mother-in-law worked her way up from being a store manager to running a call center for one of the Big 5 (storage companies). This direct life experience helped shape our company in its formative years and guided us to where we are today. Being involved and truly knowing the struggles within the industry allows us to offer real-life solutions when specifying a lighting package for a new build or just replacing or upgrading current lighting. What's the most pressing challenge facing your business this year, and how are you conquering it? There are many new lighting companies that claim to be the "best" or have the newest product. We have a joke that LED no longer stands for "light emitting diode"; it now means "lighting everyone does." Many of these new companies supply inferior materials coupled with a lack of industry-related experience and knowledge. They're fly-by-night companies that tarnish the reputation of qualified manufacturers. We're combatting this encroachment by educating our clients on what to look for when shopping for lighting products and backing our claims with offerings that have the longest warranties in the industry.
