Products Archetype Ltd. has introduced a new model in its Flood Buzz product line that can help storage operators identify potential leaks at their facilities. The small Pro-01 can be placed inside each storage unit. When the two posts on the bottom of the device sense water, they trigger a 110-decibel alarm. SiteLink has added new options for automatic billing and tenant invoicing to its offerings. Operators can choose between several batch-processing procedures based on their needs, including automatic and "set-and-forget" overnight billing options that work in the background. OpenTech Alliance Inc. has integrated its Internet of Everything (IoE) platform with Amazon Alexa virtual-assistant devices, which will enable self-storage operators to use voice commands to perform facility functions or retrieve information. Customers can use Alexa to open the access gate, f nd out how many tenants are on site, see the name of the last renter on the property and complete other tasks. OpenTech has also integrated its IoE platform with its existing call-center service. PTI Security Systems has integrated its Internet of Things cloud platform with ecobee smart thermostats, which have a built-in Amazon Alexa for voice control. PTI CORE also works with ecobee Room Sensors, which detect occupancy and temperature. The tools quickly relay temperature and humidity data to the facility operator. The Storage Group is set to release Pinnacle, a new Web design for its customers. When paired with the company's ClickandStor rental tool, Pinnacle turns a self-storage website into a Progressive Web App, an application that loads like a regular Web page or website but offers additional user functionality. Union Realtime LLC has launched "The Compass Report," an on-demand feasibility document that can be generated when using the company's pay-per-use analytics platform, Radius. Reports can be run for any U.S. address and include details on supply/demand, competitive landscape, current and historical rental rates, and more. StorTrack has launched a mapping and search tool that allows Online Plus users to combine criteria when searching for development opportunities. SiteFinder is designed to narrow searches by using rates, trends, inventory and other metrics to identify matching locations. Life Storage Inc. has made Warehouse Anywhere LLC, its third-party logistics and warehousing-services subsidiary, available to corporate customers. The cloud-connected solution is designed to allow real-time inventory tracking, control and reporting. It's intended to help business tenants reduce the cost of logistics, increase inventory tracking accuracy and improve delivery time. ISS, Janus to Host Webinar on Self-Storage 'Smart' Technology Inside Self-Storage and Janus International Group will host a free webinar at 3:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 18 focused on technology. "Creating 'Smart' Self-Storage Facilities: Shaking Up the Industry!" will explore what a smart facility can do and how to leverage technology to create one. Operators in the Spotlight Guardian Storage was named among the "2018 Top Workplaces" by "The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette." The list is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by Energage LLC, a provider of technology-based employee- engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection. Claudia Villa, manager of Kanab Mini-Storage in Kanab, Utah, was recently featured in the "Southern Utah News" for her professional side gig: a sewing business she operates out of one of her facility's units. The seamstress and costume designer specializes in cosplay and custom pieces. A stump from an ash tree at a Milt's Mini Storage in Omaha, Neb., was turned into a memorable work of art featuring a freshly carved bear and pair of eagles. The artist, Jeff Dahr, also carved the facility address into what remains of the tree. Stow-It Self Storage in Canada was a silver-level sponsor for the Lake Huron Gran Fondo bike ride in Southampton, Ontario. Facility owner Steve Levack and his wife, Tracy, donated $2,500 and participated in the cycling. The event raised $125,000 for Owen Sound Hospital. David Rogers, CEO and co-founder of Life Storage Inc., will fund the construction of a 73-foot-long replica packet boat in tribute to the vessels that f rst ventured down the Erie Canal in 1825.
