Out of the Ordinary An alleged thief led police on a multi-county chase after an off cer caught him loading merchandise into a truck from a unit at 10 Federal Self Storage in Belmont, N.C. The pursuit ended when the man lost control of the vehicle and jumped out while it was still rolling. He was later captured near a wooded area by a police dog. AAA Muldoon Mini Storage in Anchorage, Alaska, suffered damage from a mudslide caused by a water-line break at an adjacent condominium complex in January. The bluff above the property gave way, spewing mud and debris down the slope. The 30-foot-wide slide left three to four feet of frozen mud a foot deep on the storage property. A man was arrested on burglary charges after police discovered him inside a unit at Ideal Storage Units in Johnson Park, Calif. Off cers spotted a motorized three-wheeler parked in front of the facility after it was closed and scaled the fence to investigate. They discovered a cut lock on the ground and heard someone inside the unit. When they questioned the 23-year-old suspect, they found stolen property in his pockets. Three volunteer fi refi ghters suffered minor injuries while battling a f re at Economy Storage in Waldorf, Md. About 40 units were engulfed by the f ames. One of the f ref ghters was treated at the scene for dehydration. Another suffered a twisted ankle and the third was taken to the hospital with second degree burns. All were expected to make a full recovery. NEWS People Metro Storage LLC promoted Steve Tserkezis to the newly created position of director of revenue management. He's been employed with Metro since 2015 and previously served as revenue manager. National Storage Aff liates Trust appointed George Hoglund as vice president of investor relations. Most recently, he was vice president of equity research for real estate investment trusts with Jefferies Group LLC. Union Realtime LLC hired Theresa Gallas, former president of List Self Storage, as chief business development off cer. The company also hired Anastasia Malagisi, former director of marketing and outreach for the Self Storage Association, as chief marketing and brand off cer. OpenTech Alliance Inc. named Mike Connolly, who previously served as the company's chief operating off cer, as president. The company also hired Roy Pierson as vice president of engineering, Kristi Adams-Gubbels as vice president of product marketing, and Bill Hoffman as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Sterling Group named Larry Swank II as a partner. Swank currently serves as secretary and a member of the board of directors, overseeing the construction division. He'll continue in this capacity.
